FALCON NOTES

Last week was a huge week!  From Marching Band practicing in the auditorium two mornings and to Marching Band’s canceled competition at Loara in Orange County last Saturday we are lucky that we were only inconvenienced and not permanently affected by the unfortunate fires in LA and Orange County last week.  Looking at the big picture, it gave us a chance to really focus on what was important and that is our health and safety.   Marching Band had modified practices to minimize physical activity and it worked extremely well.  Our Saturday rehearsal which replaced the Loara competition was only 2.5 hours and after speaking to many students, we all agreed that it was a focused and worthwhile rehearsal.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the deadline for San Diego.  Please turn in the yellow form with a deposit of $125 to Mr. Schick.  Chaperones will be announced on Friday.  If you still want to be considered a chaperone, please contact Mr. Schick as soon as possible.

Symphony Orchestra is just now getting ready for the Ensemble Concert on November 15 in the auditorium which will be a wonderful evening of fine music.

All the classes are very close to finalizing their music selections for the Winter Concert.  I hope to see all of you there on December 7^th!

 LAST WEEK'S GAME

On Friday, CV and Hoover Marching Bands got to watch each other's field shows and both drumlines also had a drum-off during 3rd quarter.  Look for pictures of the event online!

 THIS WEEK'S GAME

This Friday is the Homecoming game against Muir!  Call time is 4:30pm (4 for crews).  The band will perform the field show before the game starts and play different music during half-time for the Homecoming Court ceremony.

This is also Alumni Band Night!!  Any former CVHS band members are invited to participate with us in the stands during 3rd quarter!  Meet at 6pm at Glendale High.  Click here to download alumni Homecoming music.  Please email Gail Homan at gailyhoman@yahoo.com with any questions.

 NEXT WEEK'S GAME

Next Thursday is our last* football game of the season!  It is a home game against Arcadia High; call time is 4:30 (4 for crews).  Senior members of Marching Band will be recognized on this night!

*IF CV varsity football wins against either Muir or Arcadia, Marching Band will be traveling with them to their CIF playoff games.

 HOMECOMING BONFIRE

The traditional Homecoming Bonfire begins at 6pm this Thursday.  Marching Band will have regular drill rehearsal until it is time to perform for the event.  Students should be dismissed around 7pm.

 FREE WEEKEND!

There is no Marching Band event this Saturday due to SATs and CV Homecoming.  Enjoy your Homecoming weekend! :D
