FALCON NOTES

We finally had our first "non-marching band" performance.  Last Thursday night, at the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, the Symphony Orchestra put on their Winter Ensemble Concert.  There were 17 groups who performed and each did an amazing job.  Thank you to those who attended and performed.

I'd also like to thank those of you who attended the Musical Dining night at Shakey's on Thursday.  I went and saw a few families supporting us.  I had forgotten how good Shakey's pizza is.

This week is a short one and I hope that everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving break and is able to spend time with friends and family.

We have a few important fund-raising opportunities I'd like to share with you.  We will be selling poinsettias for the holidays.  Every student this week will be receiving a hand-out with details.  Poinsettias will be delivered fresh at the Holiday concert on December 9th.

We are also passing out E-Scrip forms and sign-ups to gift wrap at Borders.

BORDERS GIFT WRAP

A letter was sent home last week explaining a wonderful traditional fundraiser which we do each year.  During the holiday season, CVHS Instrumental department gift wraps books and gifts from borders.  Borders donates the paper and supplies and we provide the wrapping for tips.  We need sign-ups for this event.  The first slots are right after Thanksgiving.
Each student will receive one sectional credit for each shift they work as well as a % of the overall tips collected.

CIF (11-18-05) and MOORPARK "BATTLE OF THE BANDS", (11-19 -05) update

The Marching Band played at their last football game of the season as the team lost to Dominguez High in the first round of CIF on Friday.  It was a great year for the band as we had to step up the excitement at the football games in order to keep the crowd in the games.  We are very proud of our football team and know that they played with a lot of heart this season.  We are looking forward to next year!

We also performed in our last Field Show Competition on Saturday at Moorpark.  Even though we didn't place, we played one of our best performances of the year and increased our overall score by over 10 points from our first competition.  The band has done a lot this year and we still have the Montrose Parade and Winter Concert before Winter Break.
Way to keep that Falcon Pride Band!!!

I would like to extend a special thanks to the Booster Support Staff who helps to chaperone, inspect uniforms, hem uniforms and haul all of our equipment to and from our Marching Band Events.  I'd like to especially thank Phil and Wendy Miyazaki for their expert organizing skills.  Without them, we'd be lost (literally... the buses took the wrong off-ramp on our way to Moorpark because they refused to follow the Miyazaki's directions!)

Thanks!!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.
