FALCON NOTES

It's October, yet I still feel like it's summer.  Between the Santa Ana's and warm mornings, I'm wondering if Fall will truly come!  Regardless, the Instrumental Music Department continues to delight and enrich our community.  Last Friday, the Marching Band performed with the Glendale High School Band at the Football game as they played the "Star Spangled Banner."  Saturday, the Band performed with 30 other High School bands as they watched the UCLA Football team notch a rare win at the Rose Bowl.  Saturday Night, the Jazz Band performed a swing dance Gig at the Church of Religious Science on Dunsmore Ave. for their 60th anniversary.
With Homecoming this Friday and November creeping around the corner, we are in full swing!  Alumni interested in performing with the band at the game, come with your instrument at 6:30pm to watch our field show.  We will pass out music at the game.  Thank you for your continued support and help with the department.  From Driving, to Chaperoning, and helping out with Fundraisers, it take many dedicated people to help the Instrumental Music Department Thrive.

Charms should only be used as an aid to check for a student's Sectionals, attendance and assignments, it is NOT their complete grade!!  Charm's "bottom line" average is NOT correct, and most "extra credit" and "points off" will NOT show in CHARMS.
We are now working on the financial database.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"We know that the study of music can help with math and language skills. Plus a huge part of music involves such skills as cooperation, persistence, work ethic, responsibility, organization, and leadership.
The fact that music study helps develop the student as a whole had been recognized in Western Europe and Asia for centuries"

George Hayden, 2008
