By now, students have begun to "settle in" and establish a routine.
I would like to comment briefly on how important it is to have a
routine. In order to have a balanced and healthy life,
students especially need to establish consistent routines of homework,
musical practice, recreation, and sleep. Sit down with your child
this weekend and make up a schedule with them so that they can visualize
the upcoming week and when they'll have rehearsals, practices and find
time for homework and recreation. Next week, ask them how the
schedule is working and encourage them to follow it. In college, I
would plot out when I'd eat, sleep, practice, do homework, attend class,
as well as relax and see movies. I found that I was more efficient
and did better when I knew in advance when and what I was doing. |
