FALCON NOTES Today we were inflicted by a sickness which seemed to only affect Seniors. In every class, the Seniors were conspicuously absent. I do hope that they use the three day weekend to recover so that on Tuesday, we can get ready for our Pops Concert on Friday the 30th. Last week, the Jazz Band represented CV at "Relay for Life" held at Clark High School as well as "Adelante Latinos" held at Glendale High School. Both were well received events. The Superintendent and members of the School board attended the Adelante Latinos event and were very impressed by our playing. Now that testing if over (yea!) we can get down to business and learn our music! Have a great week and I'll see you next Friday at our Pops Concert! END OF YEAR AWARDS BANQUET The Annual Instrumental Awards Banquet is right around the corner! This is a great event where we recognize our musicians with awards, announce officers for next year, eat, dance, and see a wonderful slide-show of the whole department's doings from this past year! This year's Banquet will again be at the La Cañada Country Club, on Friday June 13, 2008 from 6pm-11pm, dinner served at 6:30. Tickets are now $34 each. Last day to buy Banquet ticket is May 29th. No ticket sales at the door! Tables of 10 may be reserved with 10 paid tickets. Don't miss this fun evening! You may pay with cash, check or Student Credits! Parents are welcome, but not required. One Fabulous, Final bonding night for this year -- don't miss it.			EVENTS CORNER POPS CONCERT Friday, May 30 - 7:00pm. Call time is 6:00pm for students. Come to the last concert of the year and celebrate Music and the Movies! Prices are $8.00 adults, $5.00 for students with ASB cards and Rosemont students. POPS CONCERT REHEARSALS May 28th & May 29th. 3:15pm - 5:30pm Rehearsal Schedule will be posted on Tuesday. Check the Detailed Calendar for info and updates on events.
ENSEMBLE CONCERT WRAP-UP What a great night! I was extremely impressed by the quality and attitude of our Symphony Students last night. We had something for everyone with classical ensembles and non-traditional large group ensembles. Thank you to those of you who attended. The audience was full of energy and it was a great way to celebrate the last ensemble concert of the year. It's always challenging to go out on stage and play for an audience with a small group. Our students played beautifully.			CAR WASH WRAP UP We had a very impressive turn-out for the CVIM Spring Car Wash! Thank you all for selling tickets and coming to the event. We washed over 200 cars. Kudos to all the students who worked and did such a wonderful job. Thank you to all the parents who came out to supervise and support, as well as bought tickets, and donated towels and raffle gifts! A very special to Alex Schroeder for all of his water expertise and skills in organizing this whole event and helping to make it so successful!
GRANTS RECEIVED Instrumental Music recently received $1,000 from the Glendale Educational Foundation to go towards helping us purchase a new acoustical shell for the auditorium. This money is going to supplement funds which were finally released through another State Issued grant for PE and the Arts. The State Grant will also go toward purchasing new Wenger chairs for Instrumental and Choir.			BAND CAMP!! LOOKING AHEAD: MARCHING BAND CAMP! MANDATORY - MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Band Camp 2008-09 Dates - Drumline, Officers and Section Leaders: Aug 11-15, 8am-noon Marching Band - Aug 18-22, and 25-29 Daily 7:00am - 3:00pm
