FALCON NOTES With another year of auditions finished, I am reminded how difficult it is not only make tough choices, but to accept them. This year, I knew things would be tough since I re-auditioned Symphony and Jazz Band. There were many happy students when the lists were posted, however there were also a few disappointed ones. There will always be times when things don't go our way, but we need to remember that perseverance is always rewarded. It's easy to face a setback and just "give up." Try finding out why things didn't work out and make a point to fix them. This is an important time where students begin to discover how to handle set-backs. I've found that life is full of roadblocks, however it's how we deal with them that makes us stronger and more confident. END OF YEAR AWARDS BANQUET The Annual Instrumental Awards Banquet is right around the corner! This is a great event where we recognize our musicians with awards, announce officers for next year, eat, dance, and see a wonderful slide-show of the whole department's doings from this past year! This year's Banquet will again be at the La Cañada Country Club, on Friday June 13, 2008 from 6pm-11pm, dinner served at 6:30. Tickets are $28 per person if ordered by May 23, and $34 after May 23. No ticket sales at the door! Tables of 10 may be reserved with 10 paid tickets. Don't miss this fun evening!			EVENTS CORNER CV MUSICIANS IN THE COMMUNITY CV's finest will be performing at some local events in May. These are nice opportunities to get out with the family, support good causes, be a part of our community, and hear great music! May 17 - Relay for Life - Event supporting the American Cancer Society. Jazz Band plays 3-4pm May 18 - Adelante Latinos - Event supporting high achieving Latino students. Held at Glendale High School. Jazz Band plays 12:45-1:45pm May 22 - Ensemble Concert II - Symphony Orchestra. 7:00pm, Auditorium FREE! Check the Detailed Calendar for info and updates on events. LOOKING AHEAD: MARCHING BAND CAMP! MANDATORY - MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Band Camp 2008-09 Dates - Drumline, Officers and Section Leaders: Aug 11-15, 8am-noon Marching Band - Aug 18-22, and 25-29 Daily 7:00am - 3:00pm
CAR WASH! CAR WASH, YEAH! The Spring CAR WASH is this Saturday from 10am to 2pm, in the large parking lot on Ramsdell below Office Depot. Come on out and get a clean car, and support CVIM and our Instrumental students! Students: Remember, your Car Wash money or unsold tickets are due no later than MONDAY, 5/19!!
