 FALCON NOTES

We have a had crazy week.  With a block CASHEE testing schedule, it has been sometimes challenging to maintain focus for two hours.  Luckily, we are all preparing for upcoming festivals and the concert next week. When Symphony Orchestra traveled to Disney Hall to hear Dvorak's 9th Symphony, a few performers and composers were interviewed after the performance and when trying to impress upon us the idea of having discipline to work towards a goal, one of the performers stated "nothing worth doing is easy."  One of the most common excuses I hear when students don't want to work is, "it's hard."  Some people think it's ok to stop when it gets hard.  It should be the opposite.  We should work harder when things get tougher.  The CVHS Instrumental music department is working hard to provide a marvelous concert for you and a positive festival experience for our young musicians.  I'll see you next week at our concert on March 20th at 7:00pm!

 IMPORTANT SPRING CONCERT NOTES

Spring Concert rehearsals have been changed to MONDAY and Wednesday, March 17 & 19, (formerly Tuesday and Wednesday) due to conflicts with the Baldwin Park Festival times.

Mark your calendar: This year the Instrumental Spring Concert will fall on a THURSDAY night, 3/20, not the typical Friday night.  The whole school calendar is very busy this year, and we didn't want to have the concert on Good Friday!

 NEXT WEEK...

Next week, EVERY class has some performance or competition, AND the Spring Concert! It will be a very busy week.  Please make sure you know your call times and dress requirements.  And practice practice practice, so we can present our best!

 SEE'S CANDY PICK UP - March 12-14th

See's Candy orders are in! Please pick up your orders now, if you haven't already.  Any candy left in the music room after the 14th, will be resold.  Students who sold more than 5 items earned individual credits totaling over $800!  Great job!
 "ONCE ON THIS ISLAND"

There are only two more opportunities to see CV Drama's  performance of this year's Spring Musical. Come support the Drama department and hear our instrumentalists in the "pit orchestra".

           Sat. 3/15 - 7:30pm

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Perhaps all music, even the newest, is not so much something discovered as something that re-emerges from where it lay buried in memory."

Jean Genet
