FALCON NOTES

What is your earliest memory?  Take a moment to reflect back to the earliest memory you have.  Can you picture it in your mind?  Do you remember the sensations?  Do you remember how you felt? 
      I’m betting that your earliest memory is not just a fact, but an experience.  We remember events in our lives which have a personal meaning to us.  Learning is more than just memorizing facts, notes, or sound bites.  In fact, many teachers are almost forced to 'teach to the test' due to rigorous standardized testing schedules, but when teachers teach to the test, most students invariably study to the test and forget most of what they learned once the test is over. They don’t develop into life learners and much of the joy of discovering something new is lost.  We should be cultivating a desire in students to better themselves and become life learners, not just to get a good grade. 
     In music, we learn more than just notes and rhythm, we give students an opportunity truly understand what it is that they are playing and provide them with the tools to express themselves in the music, in the hope of fostering a love and understanding of music which will carry them through their lives.

THANK YOU to Lisa Heflin for organizing a great event!  Linda Evans and her husband attended and expressed their appreciation for the event which brought together young and old people for dinner, dance and fun.
 

If you think your son or daughter is missing something, please contact me immediately.  In two weeks, the articles will become property of the Instrumental department or be turned in to the school Lost and Found.

Come enjoy CV Drama's  fun, thoughtful performance of this year's Spring Musical and listen to our instrumentalists in the "pit orchestra".
