FALCON NOTES

With a new semester upon us it is important that we maintain superior practice skills.  One important aspect of Instrumental Music at CV is Sectionals.  Remind your students that they MUST go to sectionals once a week.  It is part of their overall grade.  Sectionals enable the section leaders to review and go over musical concepts with their section.  We will have our first festival March 3rd for Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band.  Every class has challenging music and it is important that students look at their music outside of class.  I can only do so much as a conductor, but it's up to each and every individual student to know their part so that we can focus on balance, tone, blend, and phrasing.
This week is a shortened week due to the Monday Holiday.  Tuesday is a Banking Day and Marching Band students MUST attend zero period.  Especially since their is no School on Monday.
Thank you for turning in Florida payments.  Expect to receive three forms next week as we begin to make our final "push" for Florida.  They will be available online Monday and extra credit will be given to those who turn in completed forms on Tuesday.
 Have a great week!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Music is the shorthand of emotion.  Emotions, which let themselves be described in words with such difficulty, are directly conveyed to man in music, and in that is its power and significance.
