FALCON NOTES Well, we did it again! Congratulations to Symphony and String Orchestra for their Superior ratings at the Cal State San Bernardino SCSBOA Regional Festival on Friday. More Instrumental performing groups have received superior, or gold ratings this year than any year in CV's History! The music department continues to get busier and busier as we prepare for our upcoming concerts. Symphony has their Spring Ensemble Concert this Tuesday at the La Crescenta Prespyterian Church, Jazz Band has their last festival of the year this Saturday at Royal High School in Semi Valley. In addition, every class is preparing for the Pops Concert on May 19th. Our theme this year is "Heroes" and I will guarantee that this is one concert you will not want to miss! This Thursday is dine-out night at Dominicks. Eat out and support your music program! Our Spring Car Wash is slated for May 13. Start saving that date so you can help out the music department! As of last Tuesday, not one senior has turned in an application for the Blinoff Memorial Grant. We have $$ to give away to a deserving senior(s). The deadline is this Friday. |

Students performing in this concert also have a rehearsal tomorrow, April 24 from 3:15-5pm at the church. |
CSUSB REGIONAL FESTIVAL RESULTS String and Symphony all arrived early in their concert finest and boarded two buses with little confusion as we headed out to the middle of nowhere...ok, Cal State San Bernardino. The buses took different routes and arrived at different times so String Orchestra had to rush to the warm-up room to quickly prepare since they arrived a few minutes late. They weren't fazed at all. After tuning and practicing some rhythms, String Orchestra quickly crammed on the small, hot stage and performed their music amazingly well! Symphony entered the auditorium so they could support their peers and then left quickly so they could prepare for their performance. While Strings went to sight-read, Symphony headed for the warm-up room and even though their were no stands, they got down to business as they spot-checked Dvorak's 5th symphony, a piece they've only worked on seriously for about 8 days. Symphony confidently walked on stage knowing that they were about to tackle their last festival of the year. For some, the last festival of High School. Both groups were spectacular as they received unanimous superiors from all three performance judges. They also received Excellent ratings from the sight-reading judge, which is a great accomplishment since at the Regional Level, groups sight-read music at their performance level, not a level below like in district festivals. With spring break being a week earlier, neither groups had time to truly prepare for sight-reading. Everyone did a wonderful job! I, your parents, peers and all of CV am extremely proud of you! | ||
