FALCON NOTES

The Winter "Holiday" season is approaching and the music department is "fine-tuning" our music for our December concerts.  In anticipation, at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, Students from the Symphony Orchestra will be performing in pieces written for small groups at their annual Ensemble Concert.  The concert is this Thursday and starts at 7:00pm.  Don't miss it!

The Marching Band will be performing at the annual Montrose Christmas Parade on December 3rd.  Come out and watch us march down Honolulu boulevard.
The entire music department will be performing our annual Winter Concert on December 9th.  The concert starts at 7:00pm.  Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students with an ASB card.  Plan to attend and hear a wide variety of Winter and Holiday Songs.

The Jazz Band also has a few gigs in December.  On December 10th, they will be performing at "Hollywood and Highland" at 2:00pm and on December 13th at 6:00pm, they will be at Borders in Glendale.  They will also be playing at Los Gringos Rapidos sometime in December.

I hope that all of you come out to see your child perform.  I realize that the upcoming season is a busy one, however nothing helps a child feel important like parents who support them and are involved in their lives.  I'm surprised by the number of parents who "drop-off" students before concerts and "pick-them up" afterwards. I hope to see all of you on December 9th.

CAR WASH THANK YOU

Last Saturday, the clouds vanished as the CVHS Instrumental music department put on their first car wash of the year.  It was a great success and we'd like to thank all the students and parents who volunteered.  I'd like to especially thank Craig Wilson for organizing the event.

ARCADIA AND GRANADA HILLS RECAP

Our last home football game of the year was sad for all the graduating seniors.  For the 18 students who have been in band all four years of their high school career, it meant a lot since they have invested much of their time to band and contributed to its growth in both size and spirit.  All seniors received lanyards as gifts of appreciation for their service to Band.
One Year Senior: Dong Hyun Kim
Two Year Seniors: Sarah Choi, Susie Chon, Kevin Ingelson, Irene Kim, Janet Lee, Denise White
Three Year Seniors: Mike Cho, Jeanny Han, Joe Kim, Isabel Kim, Sung-Bin Nam
Four Year Seniors:

Paul Abril, Jesse Buensuceso, Jeff Campana, Amanda Clay, Raja Gangopadhya, James Godwin, Daniel Gordon, Casey Gregg, Ben Henry, Kristopher Karaian, Sebastian Kim, Alex Miyazaki, Megan Nelson, Corey Newman, Justin Roa, Scott Tremper, Kiyoji Whitener, Hannah Yoon

We had our second field show competition of the year last Saturday at Granada Hills and did extremely well.  Band, Drumline and Auxiliary all took home first place trophies.  Corey Newman was selected Outstanding Drum Major of the Competition.  All in all it was a great weekend and CV is proud to have such talented musicians.

CIF MB GAME 11-18-05

Since the football team has a winning record in league play (3-2,) they qualify for CIF.  We will find out our first round opponent on Monday.  We do know however that it will be an away game.  Marching Band will be participating so that we can cheer the team to victory!
