FALCON NOTES

What a year!
In the upcoming weeks, it is important, since Instrumental music is a performance based discipline, for everyone to come to class and be on time.   There has been an issue with Students being chronically late or absent from zero period.  Please make sure you your or your child gets to class on time.
We have only a few things left for this year.  Next Thursday will be the last Ensemble Concert of the year.  If you haven't been to one yet, please make an effort to attend.  You will be amazed by the musicianship and creativity of our students as they play duets, trios and other combinations of instruments.
Then we have our first annual Concert Band Bowling party on the 26th from 5:00-8:00 at Montrose Bowl.  I'm looking for a few adult chaperones to help out.  Please contact me if you are interested.  It should be a fun event for everyone!
Then we have our last Car wash on the 30th and our Pops Concert on the 5th followed up by the End of the year banquet on the 12th and to top it all off... Graduation on the 19!

There is still room and time buy space in this big, beautiful glossy POPS CONCERT souvenir program!

This is the last opportunity this year to spotlight a students achievements, honor a graduating senior, commemorate friendships and memories with a photo and message, or promote your business to an active cross-section of the community.  Please get a Pops Program Order Form and make your mark!

 PROGRESS REPORTS
Progress Reports go out next week.
If you are surprised by your grade, check the following:
Low  on Sectionals?
Don't miss any more, and Do some EC make-ups.
Missing Scale or  playing tests?
Talk to you section leader and arrange a re-take.
BAND: Tardy??
ouch. Many band members have lost a full letter grade by being tardy.  Band is a performance and participation based class, and you can't participate if you are not there, plus you interrupt the performance of everyone else when you come in late. Set you alarm 5 minutes earlier.  This is an important life skill: Many employers can terminate you after 3 tardies, so learn to be early.
  Incoming Freshman / Marching Band

If you are going to be a new Marching Band member this fall (or if you know someone who is), please note the following dates when planning your summer:
Mandatory Band Camp: August 17-29, M-F, 7am-3pm @ CV. (drumline and color guard begins August 6-7, and continues Aug 12-14)

There will be a band council retreat August 10-11 in Big Bear.
 JUST A REMINDER...

Speaking of Progress Reports....
All members of Jazz Band and Symphony need to attend one outside concert each semester, and write up a one page, well-written report about the music and the performance.  This is part of the "test" fraction of their grade requirement.  This grade has already been figured in and most everyone has a 0% in tests.  As a result, most student's grades are very LOW.
