FALCON NOTES
Welcome back! I sure hope that everyone had a great Spring Break. I know that personally I was able to enjoy more time with my two sons and play "Mr. Mom." Many students have told me that they were able to "recharge" for upcoming AP and STAR Tests. We only have basically 2 months left until the end of school. The finish line is on the horizon and even though it's easy to dream about summer and beyond, we all must remember our achievements and how we earned them. I can sense the annual "senior/junior/sophomore/freshmen-itis" settling in. With AP's, Tests, the Pops Concert and Finals approaching we need to forge ahead and continue our excellent work habit! Don't forget that Audition slips for Symphony and Jazz Band are due Monday April 27th. Pick up a form in the classroom or go to http://www.falconmusic.org and click on Classes/Auditions for more information. |

ZERO
PERIOD TARDIES We average over 20 tardies a day in Concert Band. I've been trying to handle it by deducting points for every day students are tardy, but it's not improving as much as I expected. I started the semester by deducting 5 points for every day a student was tardy. It didn't seem to help, so the last three weeks, I've been deducting 10 points a day. Over 6,360 points have been lost this semester due to tardies. Many students have had their grade lowered one entire letter grade just through tardies. I will be sending home letters for parents to sign regarding their child's tardies. Please remember that attendance is taken at 6:45 and the room is open by 6:30 at the latest. In order to continue our amazing success this year, we need to start on time so that students aren't late to 1st period. I realize that 6:45 is EARLY, but with over 100 students trying get chairs and stands, people that come late really disrupt the entire class. Most people are only 1-3 minutes late and if alarms are just set 5 minutes earlier, I'm sure that this problem will be fixed. Thank you. |
