FALCON NOTES
Second semester is in full swing and we are busy preparing for Festival Season. Each class is rehearsing music which they will perform both at the Spring Concert and at "Festivals." Festivals are integral to the development of student musicians. They provide immediate graded feedback. Festivals are performances where music groups from all over Southern California perform in front of an audience and three judges. The three judges have copies of the scores and evaluate our performance based on many musical factors. They provide written and verbal, taped comments. There are no "Winners" or "losers," however each performance groups gets "rated" based on their musical ability. Last year was a very successful year for our ensembles because Symphony, Concert Band, String Orchestra and Band all received Superior ratings (the highest.) We have much to do! |

GRADES First Semester Grades are in the mail and posted in the classroom! Second Semester is a chance for a fresh start. If in June your student is going to be frantically saying "I need to get an "A" in this class...", then they need to start working NOW towards that. Its easy: learn your music, show up and participate in class, sectionals, and performances. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Schick. |
