FALCON NOTES
Today we did our first round of music testing for Symphony and concert Band and it went pretty well. I was able to test all the section leaders and they were able to test their section during class. This system has worked well over the years because it enables me to continue teaching while students are tested. In order to make sure that scores are accurate, I allow each student to request a retest by the section leader or myself. Each test is important because it measures each individual's growth on the musical selections. We will be having weekly tests to ensure that students are practicing for our upcoming concerts. Yesterday, Jazz Band had a combo play at Domincks and we sent a pep band to play at the last basketball game of the year. In the next few weeks, we have many performances. Please look ahead on our calendar for specific dates. Thank you and have a great week. |

SECTIONAL UPDATE Due to the rampant amount of make-ups for sectionals and lowered second semester grades due to students not attending sectionals, I am implementing a pilot program to track students who miss two sectionals in a row, or maintain a 50/50 average over time. Letters will be sent home with students who avoid sectionals which must be signed by parents and returned. This will inform parents that students are not attending sectionals and hopefully encourage students to start attending them. |
