CVHS Instrumental Music Email Newsletter | date 8-27-06 / issue #5.3 | |||
FALCON NOTES Welcome to another edition of the Instrumental Music Newsletter. Since the only group truly active on campus at the moment is Marching Band, this issue is primarily focusing on Band Camp. Once School starts, this newsletter will have pertinent information for every instrumental music class at CV. Much has been accomplished this week in Band Camp. We have done the following: memorized the first two field show songs, learned the drill for the first song, started the drill for the second song, memorized the introduction for our parade march "Bravura," and fitted almost everyone a uniform. With the 10 new uniforms we purchased last year, everyone will be able to wear a uniform (even the Pit!!) If you
haven't yet had a chance, go and see the pictures from Band Camp.
We have a bunch online for you to enjoy! Click the link on the

MARCHING BAND PICTURE DAY Monday, August 28th, the entire band will take their official picture. We will meet on the field at 8:00am as normal, then go to the band room around 9:00am for a quick uniform tutorial before everyone changes and heads out to the field for our wonderful pictures. There will be opportunities for buddy shots and individual pictures. Mr. Schick passed out forms on Friday and there are still a few left in the band room. Remember to wear a light t-shirt and to bring your band shoes if you are an upperclassmen. |
ZUMA FUN! This year's beach trip was spectacular! From Football, Volleyball, boogie boarding, or just hanging out relaxing with friends, everyone had a great time. Look for pictures online Monday evening! Thank you to all the parents who drove the 34 fantastic falcons! You are all amazing! |

END OF BAND CAMP PERFORMANCE AND PARTY Everyone is invited to the end of Band Camp performance on Friday September 1 at 6:00 on the main football field. Following the performance, we will have a short awards presentation and a pool party. Directions for the pool party will be handed out this week. I encourage everyone to attend the pool party since it is a celebration of over 80 hours of grueling yet rewarding work! |
CAMP REMINDERS The last five days have been very productive for everyone. However a few people are still forgetting to bring water and eat breakfast. We are working really hard to build new muscles, increase endurance and wind support as well as good music and marching skills. It is up to each individual to take care of themselves so that they are prepared for the rigors of band camp. |
CVIM NEWS The Crescenta Valley Instrumental Music Foundation supports the Instrumental Music Department at CV through fundraising and volunteering. Meetings are open to all parents, supports and friends of the music department. They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
