FALCON NOTES

This will be a quick note just to say "hi" and that we are working extremely hard in the instrumental music department. Every class has been choosing selections for the holiday concert as well as previewing possible selections for festival season.
Jazz Band has begun their student presentations and Symphony Orchestra's Ensemble concert is just around the corner.  String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble have already had one rhythm test and four scale tests.

Don't forget to come to Baja Fresh on October 19th to help support the music department.  We count on your continued support

We have our first Marching Band competition this coming Saturday at Royal High School in Simi Valley.

Have a great week!

 HOMECOMING RECAP

We had over 40 "Rosemonsters" and about 10 alumni join us for our 6th annual "Rosemont-Alumni Football Night."  Homecoming is a great time to outreach to future CV Band members as well as alumni.  This year was tough due to the game being on a Thursday, but I can honestly say that the Rosemont students have never sounded better!  The CV band performed its "Charlie and the Chocolate" field show before the game began as the Rosemont students watched from the stands.  Then, after playing the Star Spangled Banner, the CV band went into the stands and mingled with the Rosemont students as they played pep songs.  Before half-time, Rosemont and CV went onto the field to practice "Can You Feel the Love Tonight."  When half-time began, both bands marched onto the field together in two single file lines.  At the Drum Major's command, the lines rotated into Chevrons and formed a tunnel for the homecoming princesses to walk through as the band played "Can You Feel the Love Tonight."   It was a wonderful and memorable event for all.
During the third quarter, the alumni took over and had a blast.  Everything went smoothly during the game as we continued to play pep songs during fourth quarter.  Playing for a packed audience is always thrilling. Afterwards, we all went back to the band room and had pizza and drinks before sending the kids home.
I want to give special thanks to the parents who volunteered and helped set-up the pizza party as well as the parents who continually come game after game lugging equipment and chaperoning on the bus.   It's a tough job, and we all appreciate the time you donate to helping provide a worthwhile experience for all of our students.
