FALCON NOTES

My apologies for the recent lack of newsletters.  I've had some mail server problems where at one point, it took 12 separate batches to send the newsletter because the server wouldn't allow sending 600 emails at once.  However, we were able to (with help) transfer all the student, parent, alumni and groupie addresses into the school email system.  Due to a successful test yesterday, the newsletter will now be sent from school in only one group.  Hopefully we'll be able to stick to our weekly schedule.

The past three weeks have flown by.  We've already auditioned and selected the musical pit orchestra members, held 5 rehearsals for pit, had a booster meeting, collected the 3rd Florida payment and had a Dine out night at Daban's.  We are looking ahead to finals, rehearsing for festivals, more musical rehearsals, a Jazz Band gig next Saturday at the La Crescenta Women's Club, and our first Basketball gig for Marching Band next Monday.  It will be an exciting two weeks!

 FLORIDA PAYMENT #3

Thanks to everyone who turned in their payments on time!

The 3rd installment of the Florida payment of $150 was due on Friday, January 12.  There are still a few outstanding payments.  ALL late 3rd payments will be charged an additional $20.  Please make all checks out to NEW HORIZON TOURS.

There are two payments left!  The fourth is due on February 9th for $150.  Students will be given a reminder slip the week before.		  MB @ BASKETBALL GAME 1-22

The Marching Band has been invited to play at the CV vs. Hoover basketball game this coming Monday, January 22.  The game will be televised and many members of the GUSD administration will be in attendance.  Hoover's band will also be present at the event.

To show support for our basketball team, all Marching Band members are required to attend this event.

Call time is at 4:15pm and the game begins at 4:45.

We should be finished by 6:30 - 6:45.
All Marching Band members must wear their polo shirts and blue jeans.

Students can be excused for school related activities if they fill out a signed absence form.
 FINALS

Marching Band will have their final this Thursday, Friday and next Monday.  Marching Band will NOT meet during Finals week (T-W-Th)
Every other class will have finals during their designated time.
 BOOSTER MEETING 2-9-07

 Thank you to those who attended the first CVIM meeting of the new year last Tuesday, January 9.  Next month's meeting will be on Tuesday, February 13.  Meetings start at 7 in the band room. 		 PIPPIN PIT ORCHESTRA

Congratulations to those who made it into the Pit Orchestra for this year's Spring Musical!  Over 50 musicians tried out this year and it was a very tough decision.

 FLUTE CHOIR

We will be exploring the possibility of forming a "CV flute choir."  The school will purchase a Bass and Alto flute.  All interested students should contact Mr. Schick for more information.		  DRUM MAJOR PRACTICES

For all those who are interested in becoming a drum major, practices will start next Wednesday after school from 3:15 - 4:15.

 
 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES BAND HONORS

 On January 9th, all 9 students from the Glendale Unified School District were honored at the Board of Education meeting.
 The School Board showed their appreciation for our student's hard work and dedication by giving out certificates and showering them with praise on Channel 15.  Great job!		  FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Dining Out:  Thank you to everyone who went to Daban Korean BBQ on Tuesday.  15% of all sales will go towards the Instrumental Music Department.  Next month's dine out will be at Los Gringos on Thursday, February 15.  Click here to download the flyer.

World's Finest Chocolate:  Start selling Chocolate now!  You can raise $25 for every box of 50 candy bars you sell toward Florida.  Get forms from Mr. Schick.  One student has already earned $150.00 towards Florida!  Get your boxes now!
Remember, you CAN NOT sell the candy bars on campus.
