FALCON NOTES Welcome back to school everyone. Last week was a busy one and I'm proud to say that for the first time in many years, every class actually played their instruments on the second day. We were able to hand out scale and rhythm sheets as well as check out instruments and lockers. Thanks to the librarians and equipment crews of each class for helping make the first week smooth. Our overall numbers are down due to the "no 7th period" rule, but even so, we have about 279 students in the instrumental music program. Last year we had about 329. The biggest hit class was String Orchestra. Last year we had over 90 students in that class, this year, we have 60. I'm looking forward to a great year with all the groups as we learn to create wonderful music. Parent Meeting 9/13/05 The first Booster (CVIm) meeting of the year is September 13 from 7-8pm in the Instrumental Music Room (3106). It is important for everyone to attend the first meeting of the year. As a new Foundation, we are striving to provide clear, concise information regarding the entire instrumental music department and what parents can do to help us maintain our level of excellence.	MUSICAL DINING Thursday, September 15 will mark our first "Musical Dining" event of the year. Come to Dominick's Italian Restaurant 2948 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta, CA 91214 Mention CVHS Music when paying and 15% of your bill will be donated to our department.		LINKS DON'T WORK? First Home Game Last Friday, the Marching Band performed at it's first home game. Even though the team lost a tough fight, the band had a great time pumping up the crowd. They performed their field show Ray for the first time and did very well. Go to the website for pictures from the game.	Picture Day for MB This Wednesday, September 14, Marching Band students must bring their band shoes, gloves and socks for their class picture after school. Call time is 3:15. I will hand out notes to send to coaches. Those without uniforms must wear their polo shirts and blue jeans.		Ensemble Concert Sign-ups Students interested in trying out for the 1st Ensemble Concert, can sign-up this Wednesday. It's a requirement for Symphony Orchestra, but everyone is encouraged to try-out. Details are online in the calendar section.
