- BACK TO BAND CAMP INFO -

Marching Accessories and Costs Explained

Marching Shoes - For uniformity, every student MUST purchase white "Drillmaster" shoes through the Marching Band.  Students must provide their shoe size at band camp. If they are kept clean and WHITE, they may be worn year after year, or as long as they fit.

Gloves - White gloves are mandatory for everyone EXCEPT Percussionists.  All new band members must purchase gloves.  Woodwind players must neatly cut the fingertips at the first joint.  They come in stretchy one-size-fits-all.

White Socks - We require every student to wear plain white athletic socks that go at least 4 inches above the ankle.  Ankle length socks are NOT acceptable, socks with logos or stripes are not acceptable.  If a student can prove that they have their own appropriate white socks, they don't have to purchase socks from the band, however please understand that socks are inspected at every uniform event and failure to wear the the appropriate style of socks will result in a severe deduction of class points AND the student will be required to buy regulation socks on the spot.

Polo Shirt - Every student in Marching Band must have a Band Shirt.  It is a navy polo shirt with a CV Music logo and students NAME sewn in the upper left hand corner of the shirt. Sizes run big.  The Band Shirt is worn on game Fridays, at away games, for pep rallies, and other activities where students don't need their full uniforms.

T-Shirt - Every student in Marching Band must have a Band T-Shirt which will be worn underneath their band uniform.  It is NOT required to buy "this year's" show shirt, shirts from years are ok.  There are often "veteran" shirts that can be purchased for half price.

Uniform Rental - The Falcon Marching Uniforms are relatively new and need to be maintained..  Uniform rental money goes towards acquisition, cleaning, maintaining their professional look.

Band Camp Coaches  - This year, due to the size and valued excellence of the music program, we will have coaches for every instrument who will work with each section every day during band camp.  Since drummers have one extra week of Band Camp, their expense is proportionally more.

Event Food - This year, we plan to go to a minimum of 7 events.  In the past, we've asked each student to bring $5-$7 before each event to partially cover the cost of food.  With over 100 students in band, it is time consuming to record and collect money each time we travel to an event.  By collecting money up front, we won't have to ask each time we go on an event.
